Charcoal
When learning how to use charcoal, it was scary at first using a different medium. But then once i saw how much value and contrast you can see in the piece, i really started to love it! The only slight negative about it is that its messy and it gets EVERYWHERE. I learned not to be afraid to go dark because darker actually can add more value to the piece.
Still Life
Still life drawings i thought were going to be really hard trying to draw exactly what i saw on the table. At first i went about it all wrong. Instead of focusing on all of the details first, it really helps to draw out the shapes you see and then go back in with the details. I still have to work on starting out simple with shapes and THEN focusing on the more complex, detailed parts of the piece.
Scientific
Scientific drawings were similar to still life, but i almost found it harder because the objects I chose to draw were very detailed and time consuming. Being timed helped me focus on the big picture and almost prioritize in order to somewhat complete the piece.
