People make art for many different reasons. Some people may be trying to express feelings while others are trying to communicate a thought or an idea through art. I feel like we can understand more looking at a piece than someone trying to put it in words. Personally I like art because I feel like I can understand something better by looking at what medium someone chose and the subject of the piece rather than someone explaining an idea to me. The warm ups I learned the most from were the hands (sign language). Hands look easy to draw but they are deceptively difficult. The amount of detail and precision needed is hard to capture and execute on paper. If I learned anything from this class its that I really hate drawing hands! Artists can face many problems (like my inability to draw hands) while planning out or working on a piece. Some may be physical things like lack of supplies, mistakes, inability to execute an idea, outside forces messing up your work, etc. and others may be like a change of plan or a desire to do something else. There were many times were my original plans did not work out so I had to revise or come up with something completely different. Strangely, I liked my art better when something didn't go as planned and I had to improvise.
